Wing Chun Kung Fu Fundamental for Street Self-Defense

Come learn Wing Chun Kung Fu: striking and footwork fundamentals for Street Self-Defense. Footwork is fundamental to maintaining balance and not going to the ground, because you can only deal with one person at a time when fighting on the ground. Theses techniques derive from Animal Kung Fu created by Shaolin Monk’s designed as last resort self-defense as they attack vital targets of anatomy, giving one an advantage in a survival emergency.

Multiple Opponents Self-Defense Course

Join us at Circling Dragons for a two day seminar of multiple opponents self-defense course with empty hands and knives. This course will teach you the basic of empty hands and knives against multiple attackers.

Grill will be provided. You will have to bring your own food, and drinks. There is a $15 camping fee if you want to stay over night. There is indoor toilets (flushable), and training knives available for purchase.

Crane Kung Fu

This seminar has two parts. First part is Qigong for health and the second part is Martial Arts applications for Self-Defense. Crane for health is for balance, meditative stillness/rooted balance (single leg standing postures). The Crane will also teach lightness, agility, relaxed whole body movement, loosening and opening the joints, excellent for strengthening the heart and lungs which will keep the body cool in the summer. For martial arts you will gain accuracy for targeting vital pressure points, and rooted balance. Learn the 8 fists of the Crane which copies the movement of the Crane’s claws, beak, and wings for self-defense applications.

This is an Intro to Southern Praying Mantis. Praying Mantis Kung Fu is advance system of Kung Fu from the Shaolin Temple, Honan, China. It was created when master warrior monk Wong Long, observed a Mantis in a struggle with a Cicada, and from Praying Mantis actions and behaviors developed the principle and techniques of this style of this style. This is a close-quarter self-defense style, which is made up of 17 different arts that was mixed (early example of MMA) into the Praying Mantis system.

Intro to Wing Chun Kung Fu: “Woman’s Style” of Self-Defense

Coming Oct 2022. Wing Chun, which is also referred to as the Five Elders system is a “woman’s style” of Kung Fu, because this self-defense style was created by a female abbot of the Shaolin Temple, China in the 1600s. This is a close-quarter combat system that has survived the test of time for five centuries. This is very effective survival tool in hand-to-hand self-defense. This system was designed to be easily learned in a short amount of time. Student will learn the basic of this self-defense self-care art.

Intro to Hapkido

Coming in Aug 2022. This is a Korean Martial Art founded by Yong Sul Choi of Korea. Choi Studied Aiki-jitsu (the harmony art), and Tai To-Ryu in Japan. He later returned to Korea and founded his own art in which he called Hapkido. This was used by United States Special Forces in the Vietnam conflict as a means of un-armed self-defense.

Chen Style Tai Chi Broadsword Seminar will cover Techniques and Martial Application with partners. This will give you a working understanding of both the defensive and offensive fighting methods of this Ancient Chinese Weapon. The Broadsword (Do) or Long Knife has a single cutting edge (Yang) as well as a blunt edge (Yin) making it a very versatile weapon of choice for Martial Arts Masters through the centuries. It is considered the mother of all weapons.

Ancient Military (Martial) Philosophy of partner practice with the Broadsword is expressed with the saying, “A knife sharpens on stone; Man sharpens on man”.

Introduction to Baguazhang

This seminar will introduce the Marital arts/Qigong of Baguazhang. The seminar will cover Animal Characteristics of Bagua, which will cover Animal Qualities, and Animal Postures. Next we will go over basic Bagua warm ups such as: Rise, Drill, Fall, and Overturn, Dragon looks back, Slapping water and a few others. Then we will look at how the Coiling Silk energies, which is apart of the characteristics of Bagua, which emphasize circular, coiling, spiraling dragon like movements. These movements are elusive, adaptable, and when applied in combat, you are able to spiral around opponents limbs, striking, trapping, locking, and throwing them (This requires a lot of practices and understanding of the methodology, principles and concepts of bagua). All these elements of movement help cultivate both internal and external development of strength, flexibility and Qi. Next we will introduce basic bagua footwork, which will lead to an Intro of Circle walking. Finally we will conclude the seminar with BP Chan’s “8 Animal postures” while walking a circle (Which was taught to Sifu Kelly by Kenneth Cohen/Gao Han).
