Welcome to Self-Care Arts, the most complete and balanced martial arts training program in Colorado Springs. Our mission is to inspire individuals to take responsibility for their health, wellbeing, and quality of life, through development of the mind and body. We accomplish this through a variety of classes designed to assist people in their exploration of both mind and body.
Our intention via this website is to provide you with enough information about our school and programs, to allow you to make an educated decision about your training. We believe that by helping educate you, you will be able to see a very clear difference between our school and others, in the greater Colorado Springs area. Going strong for 12 years, Self-Care Arts is home to Mountain Dragon Martial Arts: training MMA champions; military arts designed to disable; as well as our Jr. Mountain Dragon program; and contact weapons and sparring programs. Master Martin Kelly has been recognized as a local artist, and has been featured in local media, newspaper, television, and library instructional DVD's. Master Kelly has been acknowleged by many Masters and Grandmasters as an expert in Self-Defense, Qigong, Tai Chi, Nei Jia Arts of Aikido, Baguazhang and Xing Yi Quan. Hundreds of students have benefitted from mind/body fitness instruction, ranging from children to seniors. In addition, many military students who have carried this knowledge to the front lines.
We offer everyone an opportunity to call and arrange a free trial class at Self-Care Arts, in: a health program such as Fighting For Fitness © (martial arts cross-training fitness class), established in 1990; or Taoist Qigong Yoga; Mountain Dragon Martial Arts (self-defense program) based on Wing Chun Kung Fu and Aikido/Jujitsu. Try out a seminar to learn the basics of Thai Yoga Massage, Qigong, Self-Defense, Cane Tai Chi, or Sword. Martin Kelly is also a Colorado State Registered Massage Therapist, specializing in CORE Myofascial Release bodywork and Thai Yoga massage. He is also a Certified Personal Trainer with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science, and a Masters Degree in Qigong and Chen-style Tai Chi Quan, specifically Xing Yi Hunyuan Taijiquan.
