Tai Chi (Taiji quan) & Tai Chi Cane

This Tai Chi classes is to help promote balance, stability, and flexibility in Seniors. Tai Chi is known to reduce pain such as hips, knee osteoarthritis, back problems, and fibromyalgia. Tai Chi helps to improve range of movement in both upper and lower body, the movements coil and turning the body, allowing for more extension and fascial conditioning and improving circulation of blood, lymphatic fluid, and QI /Chi. Overall Tai Chi can help improve mood, quality of life, and develop better capacity for activities.

These classes are intended to incorporate all the muscles in your body coordinated with your mind. Which will give you a complete brain & body workout.

Qigong

Qi means “life energy”, gong ,” the work of cultivating internal energy and its benefits”. The art and science of qigong utilizes movement, sound, visualization, breathing and self awareness cultivation to inform and empower one’s self care journey. Benefits of Qigong: Enhances the immune system-endocrine, skeletal, positional-control / balance system. Mental Health-develops sense of connection with self-nature, well-being, emotional stability and balance. “Qigong state”, initiates the relaxation response, lowering heart rate, blood pressure, induces alpha and theta brainwave states which restores mental focus and balance to brain.

Walking Yoga (Baguazhang)

Translated as, 8 diagram Palm, this Chinese health/martial art utilizes walking and unique stepping patterns on path to whole mind-body workout for balance and coordination, musculoskeletal and aerobic health, strong circulation and QI flow.

Walking Exercises may include different animal postures such as:

  1. Lion - Heaven Palm

  2. Bear - Mountain Palm

  3. Dragon - Thunder Palm

  4. Phoenix - Windmill Palm

  5. Monkey - Lake Palm

  6. Unicorn - Earth Palm

  7. Rooster - Fire Palm

  8. Snake - Water Palm
