The Southwest Airline College of China is training future flight attendants to become proficient
in wing chun kung fu as it is suitable for narrow and confined spaces of aircraft environment, so
it is preferred by aircrews. The course contains eighteen combat techniques for anti-terrorist combat.
The art of wing chun was developed by female master of the martial arts and is suitable for
both male and female crew to disable unruly passengers be they drunks or terrorists. There are
twenty -thousand students learning the art to make the skies over China safer. According to the
airlines, airline travel is becoming more dangerous and therefore there is growing need for
training personnel. Flight crews must be equipped to deal with life-or death situations,
thousands of feet in the air, where firearms have limited use.
By learning these skills the crew will be more confident and capable to deal with future dangers inherent in air travel, both in China and the world.
